An uplifting tale about a two-trunked elephant, Mia Twofer-Tia, and a refined, very timid mouse named Smouse von Strauss, who overcome their personal challenges to develop new friendships.
 
Feeling awkward about her unusual appearance, Mia Twofer-Tia dreads making new friends in her new home. With encouragement from her mother and a change in attitude, she bravely initiates one friendship with Lula Sue. She is richly rewarded with many friends, the Beloveables, when she puts forth the effort to be neighborly. 
 
Smouse von Strauss cannot bring herself to try anything, and chooses instead to follow Mia Twofer-Tia from a distance, watching her success. This makes her sad and hopeless in her quest to become best friends with Mia.
 
When disaster strike, Smouse is discovered at a tea party by Hugo Noodle, a tall, compassionate soul who wisks Smouse away to safety. Hugo then introduces Smouse to Mia and they become best friends.
 
This inclusionary tale illustrates the different abilities we all have. Some are strong enought to pursue their own happiness. Yet, for others who aren't, it demonstrates how life surprises us with friends who are sent at the right time to help fulfill our dreams.
